Many people have theorized about the fundamental needs of humanity. I believe that a deep sense of purpose is one of those needs. I see, however, that most people are looking in the wrong place to find this purpose, resulting in a never ending cycle of attempts and disappointments to find what they really want.
Have You Given Up Hope?
Many spiritual seekers believe there is no way to describe the essence of Truth or Being. It goes beyond words, beyond categorization and beyond the veil. One could use this mystery as an excuse to give up the journey of healing, growth, or exploration. What if, just for a moment, you believed you could know the expression of your soul? Would you stop hunting? Would you stop looking for a way to realize your greatest potential?
Awakening to Your Human and Spiritual Natures
Humans are hardwired to search for unconditional love, peace, and joy. From childhood, people long for a permanent experience of those qualities. We generally search first in the physical world, looking to parents, jobs, or external circumstances to provide this stable level of experience. For many, when it becomes obvious that the relative world alone cannot give the peace and fulfillment we seek, it becomes a search into spiritual offerings. We turn to religion, consciousness studies, spiritual teachers, meditation, and yoga to learn how to live a life of wholeness.
Along the path, however, most people ultimately begin using spiritual growth as a way to try to overcome their human limitations. We want to escape the suffering of the earthly realm and transcend the human experience entirely.
Don't Wait. Choose Freedom Now.
This week took me on a deep dive, spiritually. My birthday was last Sunday, and along with it came a desire to have some (many?) drinks to celebrate. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with some alcohol induced partying on your birthday, but it did open a pathway of discovery for me. After recovering from the "slowness" of the day after, I asked myself, "What was I truly seeking?"
Deep in meditation while exploring this inquiry, the answer came: "To be free and live completely in the moment."
How fascinating, I thought! The desire for freedom and complete presence is a fundamental human wish. So why did I need an outside substance to experience this?

The Gift of Meditation
The wild shakti and kundalini energy came through my physical body like a fierce sorceress, intent on clearing any obstacle in her path. In her wake, she left much, much more stillness and peace. It was as if a fire burned everything up so that my nervous system and physiology could expand to its infinite nature.
